Brooke loves coastal vibes. She also loves a good vacation. She loves to blow off steam and BOY does she need to blow off steam lately! Sometimes she just wants to fly to the Alps and scream into the void. Wouldn’t that be great? She sick of everyone’s crap. Brooke reminds us that it’s ok to feel frustrated, but we have to let go of that stress in a proactive way. We don’t have to play small…we can take up space and make ourselves be heard.

ARTIST STATEMENT
“The Uncaged” is a collection of original contemporary abstract paintings featuring realistic bird renderings to illustrate the concept of the “un-caging” of women. They may be oppressed or abused for part of their lives; later to break free to go on and flourish— to be their authentic selves. They are full of personality and color…truly unique. I think about how women couldn’t even have their own lines of credit until the mid-seventies...I realize so many must have felt trapped as they stuffed themselves into a figurative box to please a spouse or others. These works are a tribute to those powerful inner spirits and personalities that won’t be caged again!
My birds represent un-caged women embracing their inner strength, sparkle, and authenticity. The crown symbols represent the fact we are all perfectly made…no matter what we were told or how we may feel. There is life after abuse, oppression and neglect...we are all rare birds finding our colors.
