When you want to go after your dreams, it helps to have a hype squad cheering you on reminding you that you are awesome. If you don’t have a hype squad (and many of us don’t) then you MUST hype YOURSELF up! Play your favorite fun music at full blast, dance around, say out loud “I am awesome, I am perfectly made, I am MADE for greatness!” Even the introverts like Mindy there in the back can do this! Mindy felt a bit awkward and silly at first, but when she started feeling great she knew that this was going to make all the difference! She was going to GET THAT PROMOTION!!!!!

ARTIST STATEMENT
“The Uncaged” is a collection of original contemporary abstract paintings featuring realistic bird renderings to illustrate the concept of the “un-caging” of women. They may be oppressed or abused for part of their lives; later to break free to go on and flourish— to be their authentic selves.They are full of personality and color…truly unique. I think about how women couldn’t even have their own lines of credit until the mid-seventies...I realize so many must have felt trapped as they stuffed themselves into a figurative box to please a spouse or others. These works are a tribute to those powerful inner spirits and personalities that won’t be caged again!
My birds represent un-caged women embracing their inner strength, sparkle, and authenticity. The crown symbols represent the fact we are all perfectly made…no matter what we were told or how we may feel. There is life after abuse, oppression and neglect...we are all rare birds finding our colors.
